The group tends to be conservative Mennonite women in their 20s to 40s. Most of the women happen to be single, but not all have been. Many women have signed up with friends, cousins, sisters, and co-workers, but many have signed up on their own. Everyone, regardless of age and peers in the group needs to be prepared to meet new people. This is a group tour after all! Come ready to make a friend!
Not at all! As long as you are down to hang with Mennonites (at least, me!) you are welcome to join!
Nope. Just know that I am, which means I will speak openly about my faith, pray before most meals, and won’t be taking us to do things like bar hoping.
The age limit is whatever age limits you from joining and enjoying the vibe and pace of the tour. All my tours involve a lot of walking and stairs because I love to take public transportation and explore neighborhoods. I’m sure some day I will age and slow down, and my trips will change to match my pace. But as it stands, you need to be healthy and energetic enough to be out for the entire day, walking more than 6 miles a day.
One carry on suitcase and one hand bag/backpack
Note: Be aware that if you choose to use a backpack rather than luggage, that you will be caring that backpack, in the summer heat, for an hour or more, depending on the commuting situation. Most people on my tours who have opted to carry large backpacks in the past have regretted, so choose wisely. What I do recommend, is a suitcase with spinning wheels and a ‘daypack’ sized back pack or crossbody to use for carrying water, clothing layers, etc. A drawstring backpack, while handy, will not be comfortable for all day wear.
Yes! I cannot fit 10 days of clothes in a carry-on, so I will be sure we have a chance to do laundry around day 6 of the tour.
Did I miss anything?
